So, I made one. I used #8 needles and Homespun by Lion Brand like the pattern says. I’m not really sure how these are fitting an 11 year old, but eventhough it went on and seemed ok, the first 2 steps I took had it slung off my foot, because of the sheer weight of it. It doesn’t seem big when you put it on, it’s that it stretches so very much and the Homespun make it weigh so much. If you know someone with huge swollen legs and feet that is bedridden, they might love these, but if they ever get up to walk, please don’t do it in the Homespun, they could trip on them.
Being a ‘never give-up’ kind of gal (sometimes quite annoying and useless), I decided to get a small satin ribbon and thread it thru the ankle area and that way I can TIE it on my foot.
It’s really not too much of a problem for me, because I originally made them for a very specific purpose. When I come into use my computer, the air vent comes out from under the bed and the icy air hits my bare feet & legs - brrrrrrr! So, I will have a use for them to keep my legs warm while I sit so long at the computer.
I noticed that she has 2 quick sock patterns, this one being the REALLY quick sock pattern and they both say to use Homespun..hmmm….. I looked at the pic on this pattern, and I really don’t think it is Homespun on closer inspection, so try the med weight yarn instead, might fit better. I would like to try these again in a med weight, instead of the bulky, for actually walking around in, and they are so easy, it wouldn’t take long to try it out.
I also notice many people put the wrong sock - the OTHER 2 needle sock under this pattern. If it looks like i thas a heel type, it’s not this one!
