After I made the first ring, I was surprised that there were no instructions about how to do the second ring, as it was not in the usual order. Tatters on craftree got me on the right road, and the secret is to make the first ring, the rotate the ring upside down (do not flip as in rw!) and make the second ring - these 2 rings bottoms will be together, and the chain will come from between the rings and go to the bottom picot of that second ring. After that, I’m hoping it all goes smoothly. Will make notes if it gets confusing! The smallest pic with only 2 rings and pattern pic, is my start with the first ring with large picot, then there is the second ring that is opposite the first ring, and the chain coming out from between them and going to the 2nd ring picot.

I can’t believe I finished this. From the problems I’ve encountered making it like constantly trying to decide which way the chains should be forming. It just seems they were not always in the expected way. I can only assume that I have very little actual talent in tatting, and only manage to finish out of sheer stubborness. Well, at last that trait has value, because I did finish!

It has a lot of uneveness, mostly with the chains not coming together evenly in the joins between the rings, and also the center square being really wiggly, but I still am happy because I was able to get thru it and finish. Perfection comes from repeated success, but you can’t get REPEATED success, until after you get the first success.

DO NOT REVERSE AFTER THE BIG RING ON THE 4 ENDS.
