July 15, 2018: after no crafting for months, maybe a year, I’m tackling a few of my UFOs, and this is one of them. Started on the chain that goes around the middle medallion, nice to tat some more, hope my eyes hold out! Will work on it sparingly with a crochet project to switch between.

My next challenge was that I ran out of thread halfway around the edge. I’m used to adding thread with rings & chains, where you had one end in the new ring and the other end in the new chain. With bare thread, both have to go into the ring, and I tried it like the video, several times, but didn’t like it, way too thick.
So, I did this:

I brought the end thru the last ring (a tiny purple one) and pulled it real tight in between the starting and ending double stitches that close the last ring together. Then I tied a half knot in the end and the new thread, to anchor it tightly into the bottom of the ring. Then I tied that loose end in a half knot with the end of the old thread, and I buried those 2 ends, one in the right side and one in the left side of the tiny ring, up to the picot. This means that the thread coming from that tiny ring is actually already the replacement thread, and my next ring will be like nothing happened.

July 23, 2018, Monday night 10pm, I did it, I finished it! I have sprayed it with water and waiting for it to dry, picture when morning light comes for the best colors!
