2 corrections in BOLD:
This designer has a new site and this pattern is here:

I made the purplish one with Aunt Lydia’s #10 thread, color Wood Violet, with a #6 hook. Mine measures about 8 1/2” across.
The cream colored one is ww cotton, finished May 2, 2007. I finished it tonight, and it took about 4 1/2 oz of cotton yarn (Sugar n Creme or Peaches & Cream for dishcloths), a G hook and came out at 20” un-ironed.
My notes / 2 corrections in BOLD:
1) the end of round 4 says:
join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch4.
-I’m thinking it should say top of the beginning ch3
* This will begin to ruffle a little around rnd 6, don’t matter.
2) Rnd 13:
After doing the first set of instructions, you come to the part that’s about in the middle of the instructions for rnd 13, where it says “Repeat from * to * 6 times”. (3 dc in the next ch 3 sp, ch2)8 times, dbl cr in next ch 2 spc (yo, insert hook in the same sp and pull up….
Now for those of you who love the idea of doilies but never want to see a thread on your hook, look at one I did with the worsted weight kitchen cotton, like the kind found at Walmart (peaches n creme) or other JoAnns (Sugar & Cream). I weighed my finished ww cotton yarn doily, and it’s 4 1/2oz of yarn I used. It’s about 20” across, un-ironed.
