MY NOTES:
end of rnd 4: Join w/slp st at top of ch 3 previous, before picot starts.

During the ‘petal’ stage of the doily, you either have 13 tr or 13 dc in rnd 8, and there are stitches between those. It seems the the rnds are ending with you doing the 13 and simply saying join. BEWARE! They are leaving off the in between stitches that exist between all other petals when they say this. You need to put whatever stitches are between the other petals around the rnd, before you do the join. This goes for all rnds, pay attention to do the same between the parts as in the rest of the doily, not just join, like they say.

RND 14: is written wrong. Continue with 14, just like you did with 11, 12, 13 rnds. Rnd 14 will now have a dc at the point of each petal, in the middle of the 3 dc. You can see this in pic 2 on the marble table. Go to rnd 15, AFTER you make sure there are 7 sp between each petal.

RND 36: there are 4 ch 3 loops, only use the middle 2

RND 37: after the last repeat of dc in trp & ch2, do not do the next ch 2 as listed, or you will have ch 4 before the sc into the loop. Count 11 dc post in each shell, and make sure there are 2ch between each. The beginning ‘shell’ seems to have 12 posts, but the first is actually going to turn into a loop spc when you end by joining into the 3 ch of that.

I mistakenly picked up a size 5 hook on rnd 37 and as I looked at the rnd I had started, I think it is better, because there is no tightness that would make it curl, as there are lots of chains there. Using it on rnd 38 also.

(original directions)
38th rnd: Sl st in next sp, ch 7, make a picot as before, (dc in next sp, picot) 9 times; * dc in next 2 sps, picot, (dc in next sp, picot) 10 times. Repeat from * around. Join and break off. Starch lightly and press.

38 - NO IDEA I just did ch 4, picot, dc, rpt all around. There seems to be a change above where they change from dc in each sp in the beginning and then change to dc in 2 sp - I don’t understand how that would work, as it would look different? Maybe I’m just reading it wrong? Anyway, mine’s done and I finished with a picot and then joined about 1 ch back from the original picot.

Tomorrow I’ll look for the ironing board and spray starch (always iron from the center out, on just the back, never the front, incase you scorch it!)

The color is the closest to how it really looks in the 3rd picture, but brighter than that. It is hard to get this color photographed, especially if you use flash for a sharp picture.

THIS DOILY HAS 38 RNDS. I JUST DISCOVERED A SMALLER VERSION CALLED PRECIOUS DOILY WITH 30 RNDS, IN CROCHET FANTASY, #9, NOV 1983!!!
