I used size 5 needles because I didn’t have 4. But I’m glad because it is tight enough, as I am not a loose knitter, and I wouldn’t want it any tighter.

I tried to start on circular Boye’s with the smallest cable and I still couldn’t get all the stitches to go around without constant struggle. I did one rnd and every stitch I had to stop and try to get more room back from the other side to be able to stretch the next stitch off. So, I went ahead and put them on the dbl pt needles. If I were to do this again, I’d cast them onto one needle and knit them off onto each of the 3 dbl needles, as I worked the first rnd.

I made a stupid mess up. I’m on rnd 12 and when I checked to see how many inches I needed to go during the first part of the instructions, I see I have read the number of cast on incorrectly, and now have to add 3 st to get the correct count :( I put 75 instead of 78. OK, so done, but how maddening. I do not know if this yarn will pattern nice or not, time will tell. OK, so if your rnds are smaller amt of stitches, you could get a nice pattern going, as seen on other projects using this yarn. At 78 st, I’m just getting cow spots/patches.

I’m not experienced at knitting on dbl pts and so noticed one stitch that was kind of open and big, where I hadn’t pulled a stitch tight when going to the next needle. You can pull those from the back and tighten them up.

I was very terrified I’d mess up the ears, so I put a white piece of yarn in the whole rnd before the ears started, so if I had to rip back, I could. I ran it from the back hump side, and back out. So when it was time to put the ear stitches on the needle, I just back off the lifeline yarn, then it was still there and I didn’t have to put the 30 onto a yarn scrap. One ear done and it was easy. I did notice something wrong though. The increase was twisted into the middle of the ear. Here’s the thing, with only a few stitches on these tiny needles, it is easy for them to swing around and you end up working one of them backward. So, use a needle pt cover on the non - working end of the dbl pt so you can keep track of which is the right end, and try not to do it when you might have to put it down, because that is the prime time they twist around.

So, I still have the top of head & other ear, the legs, the bottom, the stuffing and the face… then the hardest part, deciding which side gets the face! ackk!

I am presently searching for filling & eye/nose/mouth options :) hmmmmm….. it just occurred to me that I should be doing the feet and tail while thinking on the other… don’t know how that went right over my head!

This little cutie is in limbo while I do some smaller amigurumi projects, trying to learn to embroider a face, before tackling this larger one.
