Notes

I have had a tunisian hook for 30 years, and finally got it out and learned to use it. It is a size I and did fine. BUT, I started thinking, with only 15 st, you don’t have to run out and buy one for this project. I got out my metal Boye I hook and it worked fine, too! It was an easier weight to hold onto, since the longer length was not needed. One does need to hold their hook like a knife, rather than a pencil to work tunisian without over doing wrist rotations. If I’d known Nancy C. was going to swipe it, I wouldn’t have used dishcloth yarn, but worsted weight! Still need to decide if I will put on an edging.

Nancy Claire is a bleuette repro, and about 11” tall.

When I had it down to where i would be sewing it shut, my doll grabbed it and it actually makes an attractive cape!

One side looks like knitting and the other side looks like typical tunisian with lots of texture. The pattern started with a small edge that grew, and when I finished I wasn’t sure what to do about the different sides, but my doll pointed out that I could put a little earring in it and use it as the closure point. Because of the curl on the right side of tunisian, with that side out it requires a small earring or tie clip post to hold it together.

Don’t cut the yarn until you do the edging. I finished all edges with sc in first spc, (sc ch3, picot in 3rd ch and sc closed) repeat all. I liked the sc in to close the picot better, because a slip st didn’t seem bobbly enough.

First 2 pics are the tunisian side, & the last 2 pics are the reverse side that looks somewhat like garter stitch.
