Crocheted Rug

Project info
Crochet
My son John-Paul
44"x30"
Hooks & yarn
9.0 mm (M/N)
Notes

I used two strands of Red Heart Super Saver in Linen, Country Blue, and Windsor Blue. The size given excludes the fringe.

Basically, I had a foundation chain of 101 stitches, and did what I call a half-double slip stitch (you work it just as would a slip stitch but do a yarn over before inserting the hook into the designated stitch. After that you work it just like a slip stitch, but bring it through the two loops that are on the hook rather than the usual one loop).

I switched colors every row and did a chain one turn to proceed in the other direction. My own cat was quite taken with the rug, and my son’s cats have apparently taken it up as their own, and it now sits on the sofa under the cats.
