I knit this sweater about fifteen years ago after knitting an identical one for a baby shower. It was so awesome, I knit one for my own future children. Those children are real now, and I found it while cleaning out my office.

It’s too good not to share, right?

I meshed a couple of patterns together to make this. It’s not hard, and here’s the recipe:

• Yarn: Almost all of the yarn is Dreambaby DK. You need a yellow, orange, tomato-red, and a blue-red. (I think the blue-red was Snuggly DK). The two reds give it a great depth, I think. I did the ribbing at the bottom of the sleeves and sweater in the blue-red.

• Flames: the Interlocking Swirls chart from The Knitting Stitch Bible (page 207). It’s about 2 1/4” total.

• I used this Ann Norling pattern, but really, I’d recommend picking up a copy of Ann Budd’s Knitter’s Handy Book of Top-Down Sweaters. (It’s a fantastic resource.)
