IntSweMoDo2011 #4

I have been wanting to knit a summer cardigan for a while and have been agonizing over the yarn to use and what to knit. Should I follow already made pattern or design something of my own? I have knitted quite a few samples of different patterns with different yarn and finally decided on this Lovely yarn :-))
The pattern I am using came about quite accidentally, hence the name “ Accidental Cardigan”. I have been trying one pattern and it was not coming out as in the picture for some reason. I have decided to try knitting it reverse to what the pattern chart said and loved the resulting pattern :-))
I am knitting from the top seamless. The sleeves are going to be knitted later from the top. This will be a new method of knitting seamless sleeves to try :-))
I will post some progress pictures when I have knitted a little more and have a chance to take some :-))

05.12.11 I have knitted seamless from the top and now ready to connect back with front halves. Shoulders were shaped by short rows.

06.06.11 Right now I have a vest. I have done the panels for the front halves and I am not happy with the result. The edging curls. I have not blocked this yet, but I think it will not help. You can see from the pictures that I have knitted a little flap that is folded and sewn on the WS of the front edging to prevent it from curling and to have a nicer edge, but it did not help. Now I am considering either do this flap as wide as a whole edging or unravel the front panels edging and possible the body edging and re-knit them in Garter St. There also a question whether the edging I have now is too much and Garter St one will be a better choice since the main pattern is quite heavy. I also considering if a vest perhaps will be better then a cardi in this case. I would appreciate your suggestions :-))

Yarn color as in 1st two pictures and the photo of the yarn ball.

07.04.11 Blogged here about the cardi turned vest, why I decided not to make sleeves and what is next for this pattern :-))
