05.05.11 I am very excited to be knitting this beautiful shawl by beatka called Winter Thaw. Thank you so much Beatka for letting me have an advanced copy :-)) Thank you so much to dear Lotta for helping in this matter ;-))) I was in love with this design the moment I saw it on Ravelry and very excited to be knitting it :-))
I choose this yellow yarn by Cherry tree Hill. It is lovely. I am going to knit some more to see if it is working for this pattern, since the yarn is very slightly variegated…..
…an hour later….
this yarn is too variegated for the pattern..lace is not as clear as I would like, as you can see in the pictures. I will try a solid color next.
Decided on the blue/aqua color yarn from Dye for Wool :-))
05.07.11 Chart 1: completed 3 repeats.
05.08.11 Happy Mothers day everybody. More on that and knitting in my blog.

05.10.11. Chart 1: completed 5 repeats
05.12.11. Chart 2: rows 1-10 completed.
05.13.11. Chart 2: rows 11-22 completed.
05.14.11. Chart 2: completed.
Chart 3: completed.
05.16.11 Edging Chart: rows 1-12 done.
Looks like I do not have enough yarn to finish with 4 rows left to go ;-((( This just confirms that I knit very loosely due to week right wrist to avoid too much strain on it. I will have to use smaller needles next time and try to knit tighter or I will always have the problem of not enough yarn. 874 yards should have been more then enough for this project. Now, I have to order more yarn (which is beautiful yarn, but i really do not need the same colorway in my stash) and also my shawl probably going to be huge (this can be a bad or a good thing ;-)).
05.21.11. I am waiting for the yarn to finish the shawl…..Hope it will come this week.
:-)
05.28.11 The shawl is done. It came out large (well, at least for me..I am only 5’3” ) which was expected due to my loose knitting, but the lace and the edging are gorgeous and I now love that the shawl is so large :-)) I love, love this project :-)))
The only thing I changed in this pattern is I knitted 2 edge sts. BO as follows: BO 2 sts, place the st back on left needle and CO 1 st on left needles, BO 3 sts, etc. This takes longer and uses more yarn, but gives a very stretchy BO row.
about the yarn: the yarn is just gorgeous. It is silky, soft and the color is divine :-)) Exceptional quality yarn and very much worth every penny :-))
