Gauge: ~20st/4”, but I don’t want to go down a needle size in case the fabric gets too firm. My no-think knit for the 136th Australian Sheep and Wool Show.
Just realized that my skein is 211m/231yds, not a 230+m/252yd skein! I’ll need to weigh how much I’ve used so far, and decide what to do to finish this project. This won’t turn into a frog!
10/9/13: This one has been in and out of the frog pond so often that I fear it may remain a permenant amphibian! My mathemagics are not as good as they should be…. onto about the 4th attempt; I refuse to give up :)
Mods
- Used Ysolda Teague’s Tubular Cast On for 2x2rib. Used Strand Increase instead of Closed Eyelet (YO) Increase
- CO 102 st
- Followed the pattern up to Row 17 (3 buttonholes, not 4)
- Joined to knit in the round on row 21 (96 st). Worked 2 rounds with the seed stitch section, then did 6 rounds of rib
- Place markers: K20, PM, k28, PM, k20, PM, k28, PM
- After the increase round = 176 st. Front is formed on last 48 stitches. Work short rows until 5 st left
- 206 stitches in the seed st border. Pick up 1st in centre front to make an odd number of stitches; therefore seed stitch in the round is continuous
- Used JSSBO and same needle as used for the seed stitch (smaller one)
11/9/13: Three buttonholes done
14/9/13: Ribbing finished; starting on the stocking stitch
18/9/13: Just about to start the front extension
25/9/13: Only the seed stitch border to go. I don’t think I’ll bother going down a needle size for it (besides, the needles are being used elsewhere!)
3/10/13: Using the same size circular and JSSBO. Should be done soon!
4/10/13: OK, so me being Ms Smartie-pants, I can’t stand the flaring in the seed stitch border. Time to tink once more and redo with the smaller needle.
And finished. I just need to find some buttons and sew them on. :)
