Note: by now you should see the mathematical pattern. You’ll continue like this until you’ve
exhausted your yarn or have a rug the size you require.
IMPORTANT: I only used slip stitches when I kept the same yarn color. When I completed a row of one
color and wanted to begin a new row of another color I would bind off the row and do a join with a new
color. I did joins away from the bind off of the previous row. It’s okay to do a join anywhere on the
circle. Don’t forget to weave in tails as you’re crocheting in a new color, this will prevent you from
having to do it later. Keep to the mathematical pattern!
There are a lot of great videos on YouTube for all of the methods I’ve described above. If you need to
learn how to join a new color or create a magic loop, refer to the videos. That’s where I always go to get
help first.
After you’ve completed all of the rounds you want, you’re ready to add the decorative picot stitch.
