Notes

Lucy was nice enough to send me this pattern. I’m really excited about knitting it!

My yarn is much heavier than the pattern calls for, and based on my past experience with it, I’m going to use size 6 needles and 3 repeats of 31 stitches, rather than 4. This may be a mistake. Such is life.

I’m also going to use Mimknit’s notes and put an 8 row P2K2 rib on it. Since this requires 3 extra stitches, I’ll end up casting on 96.

Note to self, much as the notes require you to decrease out the four extra stitches in the set up row, you MUST add them back in at the end in the set up row to go back to ribbing.

Pugstitches offered this advice about the ribbing at the end: To make it look similar to the beginning you need to end with either a row 1 or row 7 before the ribbing, and do two rows less ribbing that you did at the start (because of the way the actual cable crosses fall).

Hgs had this hint: After set-up row, p2, (k2, p2) 6x, c5b 4x
Work cable pattern 2 (c5b) on rows 3 and 9 of the 12-row cable pattern 1, but other than rows 6 and 12 of cable pattern 1, knit all knit stitches and purl all purl stitches on all other rows.
