Notes

11-7: I know it took me a ridiculously long time to knit this scarf, but it is definitely the most complicated lace I’ve knit to date. And it was slow going with the cables on the slippery linen. But, it was worth every last minute of it and I truly enjoyed knitting this pattern. I need to block it, but I’m enjoying wearing it as is.

NB: Make sure you look at this link before trying to join a new ball of sparrow-http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/quince--co/2167871/1-25#12

6-28-14: Finished the first full repeat. Love the pattern. Love the yarn. Need more time to knit!

5-20-14: Shouldn’t have--there are other projects I need to finish, but cast on and did the first 10 rows. The yarn is a bit splitty, but I adore linen. This should be fun!

Note the errata at the start of the border: Begin border (page 3)
Row 1: (RS) K1, yo, k1 yo, k2tog, k1; rep from to
3 sts before marker (m), yo, k2tog, yo, k1, sl m, k1, yo,
k2tog, yo, k2tog, k1, rep from to last 2 sts, yo, k1,
yo, k1—278 sts.

6-20-14: This pattern is a bit tricky for those, like me, who don’t get to sit down and knit for hours and focus on a pattern. There are three different sections of the pattern you have to read to knit each row: (1) There is a right and left cable cross, which are set forth in the definitions, (2) There is a lace pattern, which incorporates the cables by way of their abbreviations, RCC and LCC, and (3) There are row by row directions, which part way through will refer you to “lace pattern row 1” and so forth. Going back and forth between these was slowing me down, so I’ve done up the directions, first by putting the stitches for RCC and LCC into the lace pattern and then by taking the lace pattern rows and incorporating them into the row by row directions. I’ve show the lace pattern directions in between { }, and at least in my notes, the lace pattern shows up in burgundy type. Finally, there are two rows where the cable crosses are used in a portion of the pattern that is not the lace pattern, and I have inserted the stitches in place of that reference and bolded them.

So--this is not my strong suit, and I’ve not proofread this yet to make sure I’ve got everything just right, but I’m putting it in here so I can work on it. If anyone catches any errors, please let me know. UPDATE: I JUST FINISHED THIS PART OF THE PATTERN AND THESE INSTRUCTIONS WERE GREAT

I’ve only done rows 21-38, as those are the rows you repeat 5.5 times to get the body of the shawl. The earlier rows are only done once.
