Apr 11th 2012: today i got the yarn for the project in the mail. I tried this jacket before but I didn’t get the right gauge with a different yarn. I cast on and immediately knitted first sleeve. It grows very fast and pattern is very easy .
April 14th: I had to unravel the first sleeve up to a certain point then I knitted it again . Now I am working or the body, kind of a tedious job….
May 4th 2012: I am now at the raglan shaping, it’s turning into a “monster” project!!!
May 6th 2012: onto the collar, yeah!!! It’s turning awesome and I hope it fits James all right.
May 7th: finished the knitting, now I have to do a little(very little, still there is some) finishing- buttons, maybe a basic crochet edge, sewing the sleeves…
May 8th: I did the finishing. I am not completely satisfied by the button loops but James is at school and I want to try it on him.I crocheted one row around the bottom and sleeves to get it more even.
All in all: I love the way the pattern is written, I couldn’t find any “fault” or mistake. If I wanted to knit this again I would probably: work buttonholes; keep the collar shorter(this can be easily done even now); it would be nice to have a hood!
May 9th: I didn’t like the way the buttons looked on James, so I undid the crochet edging and I put on a new orange one to match his Thorpe hat and took off the buttons. Tomorrow I’ll go looking for a zipper, I think it will be more appropriate.
July 15th: finally put on the zipper, it works beautifully.
