Notes

When I saw the Cascade Heritage hand-painted yarn, I knew immediately that I wanted to knit it into a sweater. The name comes from a book from my childhood that I immediately thought of when I saw this multi-colored yarn. My ideas so far are:

  • boatneck (knit top down)
  • 1x1 twisted rib for collar, sleeves (from above elbows), and hem
  • paired increases for the raglan shaping
  • paired decreases and increases for waist shaping
  • “false” side seams added with a crochet hook as seen in Elizabeth Zimmerman’s “Knitting Without Tears”

2/21/2010: CAST ON FOR COLLAR !!!!! I swatched and then cast on for a 28” neck opening. That’s 252 stitches, if you were wondering :)

2/24/2010: Frogged just a few rows (~5) because the yarn was starting to pool strangely. I then started alternating rows from two skeins to avoid unattractive pooling. This seems to be working.
