Notes

I chose this top because 1) I had the yarn in stash 2) I figured it would be fairly mindless and easy and 3) it’s a simple summer silhouette.

4-11-15 super happy with this project thus far! i have completed the garter hems, and joined in the round for the long slog of stockinette stitch (the mindless part).

i went to the Carolina Fiber Fest today, and had a great time. i picked up this cute project bag for $10. (i couldn’t make it for $10 --- in supplies, yes, for time -- no) … made and sold by a fellow ravateer, zibelineknits !

cute little monkeys! and their grayish hue coordinates with my yarn -- very VERY important in project knitting & bags !!!!!!

13 April 2015 --- I added ball #3 today. I’m skeptical of this tee taking only 5 hanks. Thus, I’m knitting as fast as I can and have a 6th waiting in the wings. I think my
last ball got me about 5” in stockinette.

17 April 2015 --- ready to add ball #4 today. And i think i’m at my 13” and ready to separate for front & back. Body seems wider than should be for gauge, but i’m not going to worry about it. it’s linen. it will drape nicely once washed. (famous last words?) … i figure if needed, since it seems wider, i can block for length.

Oh! And feeling more confident about only needing 5 balls as pattern dictates. Which means, when completed, I can return the 6th one purchased as “insurance” and maybe pick up a different colorway for my next project in sparrow.

23 April 2015. I have finished the knitting and joined the shoulders and finished neckline. Next steps: pick up and finish armholes and then weave in ends and block.

I have just enough yarn for my finishing. If I’d knitted the body longer I’d needed a 6th skein.

25 April 2015. Finished! Love it!
After weaving in ends, put sweater into a mesh bag and washed with other laundry on cold cycle. Then tossed it into the dryer (removed from mesh bag) on a low/delicate cycle with rest of laundry. Pulled from dryer before completely dry, reshaped, and hung on hanger. The fabric has relaxed and has that linen drape and swing!

The sizing and length are perfect. I finished the neck as pattern and on the armholes, did one round of purl and then bound off purlwise.

Such an awesome summer top! Simple and mindless, with great results.
