Notes

I’ve got questions about the protrusion on both sides of the bodice… I updated a pix showing my bodice measuring 5” vertically hence the protrusion is not that obvious on me. I have to also add that the bodice does not ‘cover’ my boobs completely downwards but only 3/4 of it therefore giving me a snug fit i wanted..

I would recommend short rows for the bodice if you are on the busty side and want better coverage. This will also take care of the ‘protrusion’ problem. Alternatively you may want to consider switching the dec from the sides to the back (see my mods on Karma Tank).

Knitted in the round in empire cute - my favourite for summer tanks! This is by far the best mod I have done. Very very happy with the results!

Hmm.. I can smell summer by just looking at it! :)

Here’s my mods:

Size to fit 34” bust - approx. 4” negative ease for the bodice….

Measurements after steam blocking:
Top bodice 14” across (rev St st), 5” vertical
Centre (bust) 15.5” across
Lower bodice 17” across (rev St st)
Bottom hemp 21” across (lace pattern)
Length (up to lower bodice) 11”
Gauge: 5.5 sts = 1” in St st on US 6 circular(4 mm)

CO 230 sts using US6 and purl 2 rounds. Next round, refer to Beaded Cami for lace pattern (see instructions for circular knitting) Ignore first k3 and last k3! 10 pattern repeats - 23 sts = 1 patt rep

After lace pattern, divide sts into half and place makers on each side for front and back, knit 1 round.

Body shaping:
Decrease next round: k1, k2tog, k to last 3 sts, ssk, k1, slip m, k1, k2tog, k to last 3 sts, ssk, k1.
(1 round = 4 sts dec)
Work even 5 rounds.
Repeat these 6 rounds 7 times more - 198 sts.

Work even until piece measures 11” (or desired length)

Work Pleats:
The pleats should be positioned under the bust line so you will have to get your own measurements to determine where yours should be.

The easiest way (which is what i did) is to try on the cami and mark where you want the pleats. Next, find the center point of the front/back bodice (divide into half) and work one side first by counting the no. sts sideway towards the marked position. Do the same for the other side, as well as the back. Make sure both sides are evenly position! Then refer to Fiona Baby Sundress for instructions on how to knit pleats.
After you are done with the pleats (4 at the front and 4 at the back), you should have 166 sts left on the needle.

Bodice:
Next round: Change to smaller needle from here on and knit Rev St st (purl every round). Work even for 3 rounds.

Continue shaping bodice as follows:
Knit 1 round.
Decrease next round: k1, k2tog, k to last 3 sts, ssk, k1, slm, k1, k2tog, k to last 3 sts, ssk, k1.
(1 round = 4 sts dec)
Repeat these 2 rounds 9 times more - 126 sts.

Next round: Work even and at the same time work 1 lace pattern (23 sts) at the center front bodice.

After completing lace pattern, next round: Rev St st (purl every round). Work even for 3 rounds.

BO using larger needle and weave in all ends.

Straps:
Crochet 2 double stranded chain st straps and sew.

Steam block or iron if necessary.
