Mods: I only worked 16 rows (instead of 22) btw the contrast band along the bottom and the start of the waist shaping.
I am LOVING this project. Switched the stitch pattern to a dot stitch as the original stitch pattern is too close to another sweater in my collection.
After finishing the back, I realized that it was just too long. So, I ripped all the way back to the garter-stitch edge, left out the first 16 rows of even pattern knitting, and started instead with the first decrease row. Of course, I did the same on the front pieces.
I’m about to start blocking the fronts and back so that I’ll be ready to go with the finishing work on them once I’m done knitting the sleeves. Woo Hoo!
Finished the sleeves and they, too, are too long. Got to rework… Will move on to the ruffle edge around the fronts before I tackle reworking the sleeves.
I have discovered that the cardi is just too big all around. Basted it together and tried it on. Problem wasn’t the knitting, though. I’ve shrunk since starting the project, and now there is just too much ease. It will be going into hibernation ‘cause I’m just not up to frogging it all and starting over just now…
Frogged it, am starting over
SO, reknitting was definitely the way to go. The cardi fronts and back are on the blocking board right now. The sleeves are knit, edged, and waiting for their turn on the board. Looking forward to picking up the edging and FINALLY getting this finished!
Turned out beautifully! Went down to a size 34” from the original 36”. Maintained the mods mentioned at the top.
