This is a gift for a little girl, who loves pink.
Used lots of different shades of pink from my stash - too many to list.
The main yarn is Pound-Of-love.
I must say - not my favorite yarn.
I prefer Vanna’s Choice. But I had to stay on the budget.
Since my cushion has no fabric lining, I used crochet hook H/5 mm, to make denser fabric so stuffing would poke through.
Pattern mods -
I like conventionally written patterns in standard language.
It was a bit challenging for me to use this one.
KPSmith said it perfectly here.
Did it anyway.
I loved the color play on the round belly!
Here is Greta’s Etsy shop, where you can see more pictures of the owl cushion.
The round circle (“belly” portion) was a bit floppy. But the last 5-6 rows reduced the circumference and the chain stitching also “shrunk” it in flat circle. Phew!
Changed the back. I have it done in solid main color yarn. I made circle with 13 segments in dc, 12 rounds. Rest is the same.
Bottom sides of the head bulging out. I blame the yarn - very stiff stuff! The yarn created distortion. Oh, well…
I sewed the bottom parts, attached facial features and still not sure how to connect “ear loops” together.
Ended up just sewing them with a tapestry needle.
As you can see on a face close up, even with H/5 mm crochet hook I got quite a hole-y fabric. The suggested size hook was - J/6 mm! I guess, the lining is a must for this project.
My child wants the same in blue color.
