I used the monkey hat pattern as the basis for a football helmet hat I wanted to make for a baby. Turned out rather well.

I didn’t like how the ear flaps curved in on the first hat (Steelers). So on the second hat (Giants) I changed the first and last stitch of each row on the ear flaps from hdc2tog to dc2tog. I liked it much better this way.
