This year, for my oldest kiddo’s birthday, I’m making a Cub Scout blanket for him.
6/11 - Two squares done so far and I’m please to see that the weave pattern in the background will line up with the neighboring square!
6/15 - I had completed the Bear square on the 11th but was too lazy to post it. The colors were picked for each square based on the navy color for the shirts they wear and the color of their neckerchiefs for their uniforms. The Arrow of Light is there last badge they can earn and is bright yellow and navy. Since I already had used yellow in a previous square I decided to use beige instead of yellow, since my kiddo often wears beige pants for his Cub Scout uniform. I included his name int he badge as a way of balancing out the design to be more cohesive with the other squares.
I’m close to being done. I plan on doing one border in red and navy with a strip pattern based on the one seen in the neckerchief. After that I will do a final border of just navy to help pull the whole thing together. With lots of luck it looks like I might be able to finish this before his birthday!
6/28 - Success! My muscles are aching like you’d not believe but it’s finally done! It fits a queen size bed so I opted to stick with just one border instead of having two.
