Planning to make myself a pair of leggings for 2010 Ravelympics.
Training: The plan is to work both legs at the same time on two circs. (I dropped this plan…faster to do one leg at a time).
I will be working from a selection of sock yarns and charts. I have swatched, wound yarns (2 balls of each color) and tried to get some of my favorite charts gathered. I plan to use a combination of US 1 and US 2 needles. There is no real plan for the color/design selection - just randomly play with the yarn & designs.
Feb 28th: I’m up to my thighs on both legs. Working to get over my tush! Not feeling too stressed about not crossing a finish line. I am happy to have a pretty good start on my Nether Garments!
Just love the freeform flow of this kind of stranded knitting. Surrounded myself with plenty of colorful sock yarn, a variety of charts and patterns and just randomly chose whatever suited my fancy.
Instead of EZ’s suggested increase rates, I just tried them on and fitted them to my legs. Now I am starting to think about how I want to join the legs.
Mar 21st: I’m done! First day of spring & 8” of snow was a good day to complete my leggings. I am very happy with them. Love the fit and feel. Will block them after I am done prancing around for a bit.
EZ’s pattern was a wonderful guideline. I used Barbara Walker’s shaping calculations to get the fit I wanted through the hips and waist. Got some good info from various ravelers on crotch stitches as this is very vague in the Nether Garments chapter.
Still to do:
Weigh them for a yardarge estimate.
Take a few pictures to share.
