Notes

Love this design, and just happened to have some appropriate yarn on hand. Interesting construction and fun to knit. There are directions for two sizes, the style works for either men or women, and the cap can be worn either as a slouch or a with the brim turned back as a watch cap.

Lots of nice patterns in the collection.

As for the yarn? Hm-m-m. I can understand the seduction of the myriad colorways available, but I was underwhelmed. The lighter color was fine, but the darker one was awful--thin, kinked up (overspun?), and somewhat splitty. Maybe I just got a bad skein. That said, there was absolutely no bleeding of the yarn when I soaked it before a quick blocking. If I were to use this brand again, I would try one of their different bases.

For the hat, MC was light, CC dark; for the mitts, MC dark, and CC light.

My only mod was to use a smaller needle, and, given how loosely I knit, I could have gone down to 2.25mm.

If I were to knit this again for myself I would cast on fewer stitches because the length is a bit slouchy for my head.
