Original Pattern: Ripple Eyelet Baby Hat by Bonnie Brann from www.knittingonthenet.com
*************************************
I have been admiring hats with this pattern made by “Oxford” here on Ravelry. It’s a baby hat, but she’s figured out how to make the hat as a chemo cap for adults.
*************************************
From Oxford’s pattern notes (if knitting flat and then sewing a seam):

  • For an ADULT sized hat, using Worsted Weight yarn, CO 83 stitches, repeat pattern 5 times before decreasing (size US 8 needles).

  • For DK and Sport weight yarn, CO 93 stitches, repeat pattern 6 times before decreasing (size US 7 needles).

HERE ARE MY ALTERATIONS TO KNIT IN THE ROUND:

Worsted Weight Yarn/ Size US 8 knitting needles (16’ circular)

Replaced “s1,k2tog,psso” with
“sl2tog knitwise,k1,psso”

DIRECTIONS:
Cast on 80 stitches. Join to work in the round, being careful not to twist

Row 1: Knit
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: Knit
Row 4: (yo, k3, sl2tog knitwise,k1, psso, k3,yo,k1) repeat 8 times total
Row 5: Knit
Row 6: (k1,yo,k2,sl2tog knitwise, k1, psso,k2, yo, k2) repeat 8 times total
Row 7: Knit
Row 8: (k2,yo,k1,sl2tog knitwise, k1, psso, k1, yo,
k3) repeat 8 times total
Row 9: Knit
Row 10: (k3,yo,sl2tog knitwise, k1, psso, yo, k4)repeat 8 times total
Row 11: Knit

Repeat rows 4 – 11 for a total of 5 times, then begin decrease rows.

Decrease For Crown:
Row 1: k3 one time, then (sl2tog knitwise, k1,psso,k7) repeat to end of round, end k4 instead of k7
Rows 2, 4 and 6: knit
Row 3: k2 one time, then (sl2tog knitwise, k1,psso,k5) repeat to end of round, end k3 instead of k5
Row 5: (k1,sl2tog knitwise,k1,psso) one time, then (k3,sl2tog knitwise,k1,psso) repeat to end of round, end k2.
Row 7: (sl2tog knitwise,k1,psso,k1) repeat to end of round, end k1.

Remove marker. K2tog until six stitches remain.

Cut yarn, thread through remaining stitches, draw together. Weave in loose ends.

For DK or sport weight yarns, use size 7 needles, cast on 90 stitches, and complete 6 pattern repeats (Rows 4 - 11).
