This is the pattern for my favorite felted slippers. I love making them and even more I love wearing them! It is reminiscent of Russian boots made from wool that are still worn in the villages. These slippers are wonderfully warm and will keep you warm in the coldest weather. I always have a pair in progress because they make wonderful gifts too. If you never tried knitting socks – do not worry! This is the pattern to start with. Nice size DPNs and thick bulky yarn.
Because these slippers were knitted fairly tightly they will not fully felt. This makes them more durable and less slippery.
This variation of the pattern is made to my measurements. I very wide ankles but my feet are not as wide – so I need a wider ankle than most patterns have. This will be perfect for the people who suffer from swollen legs or diabetes and need socks that will not bind.
A word about the yarn. While I love knitting socks I am not in love with mending them. That is why I prefer to use two strands of tightly spun worsted weight yarn. But you can use a single strand bulky yarn too.
