The picture is of me holding my oldest daughter when I brought her home from the hospital, before we even went into the house. I’m hoping it will work well for this technique! I created the pattern from a digital photo of a photograph since I didn’t have access to a scanner to scan the original.
I’m planning to do this one in a pink palette.
After one day wasted on a false start, I’ve found what I think are the right shades to do this picture in. I’m using a peach/pink palette. My first set of shades didn’t have enough ‘lights’ for this - or I didn’t think so, at least :)
Coming right along! Four days in and 50% completed. I’m doing this one in a sport/dk weight so it’s slightly smaller while still having good detail and a fair number of sts/rows.
Took a couple days off of this one. I’m getting a little antsy with all the repetition… so I went all crazy and improvised a pair of felted (crocheted) baby boots last night. Had to let the creativity flow a moment or two!
Ok, another day or two off of this project. I’ve got a birthday to do! Started an adorable baby boy sweater as well …. :)
After a couple days back at it, I’m about 80% done this project now. Just a few more detailed rows to go and a few background rows/edging!! Maybe I’ll have a finished picture by tonight…
All done!
I’m planning on backing this and making it a wall hanging. It is a gift for my oldest daughter who is expecting my first grandchild. This is her gift for her baby shower :)
All done backing it and my backing/hanging idea seems to have worked out pretty well. I’m planning to blog about how I did it within the next couple of days.
