23/09: Casted on for the first time in a waiting room and I am pleased to find out that it’s not as difficult as I first thought. Finished item seems really nice but getting there is a bit hard on the hands with all those trebles and picots.

24/09: I’m curious to get to the border and see how it is constructed. In all, a very well constructed doily with a very delicate and lacy look. This one will be for my Godmother.

25/09: I’m a bit disappointed by my thread, which is really mate, harsh, stiff and quite “ropey”. I dunno if it will affect the finished product. It seems as if the whole mercerization thing was completely omitted on this batch.

26/09: It’s flying off the crochet or so to speak. Just made one tiny mistake that I will live by. Almost no ripping with this one. I am on fire!

27/09: I’m at round 17 now and totally depressed by my thread: 4 ugly splices up to now. Drats. This one is not worthy of being offered as a gift due to the poor quality of this particuliar batch of thread. I will have to start again with another skein but I’m too far advanced to start over now. I’ll bear with it for now and keep it as a memory that liberty comes with a price!

01/02/11: Now doing a 2nd one for my Godmother, mostly white with pink trimmings. This lovely pattern is well worth doing it all over again in better thread.
