Gauge: 22st x 28 rows = 4” on 4mm needles
20st x 29 rows = 4” on 4.5mm needles
24.07.13 - Not sure I like the fabric on the 4.5 needles. Also, not sure I want a sweater with an actual 39” bust, which would be 6 inches of positive ease…
The plan - I’m going to follow the 39” pattern using the 4mm needles for 35.5”. Should be 2.5-3 inches of positive ease.
07.08.13 - 7.5 pattern repeats completed and 1.5 to go! Hard to judge when to stop to separate the front and back since the lace will grow, but I decided to work the math. And 9 pattern repeats plus the ribbing should be about 19” under the arm after blocking.
I made the decision to lengthen the body by trying on my favorite cargidans and measuring. They were all between 18.5-21” under the sleeve so 17” seemed short.
17.08.13 - finished first sleeve making it around 21-22” before shaping the cap (10.5 pattern repeats).
28.08.13 - blocked everything before seaming it together. And ended ripping some of the neck band making it 28 rows on each side. This ended up being just right to sew the collar onto the back.
29.08.13 - since I made the body 2 inches longer, I picked up 327 stitches instead of 305. 3sts every 4 rows. Also, used this video to make button holes as I don’t have much experience with them.
04.09.13 - finished the button band and followed the pattern exactly for buttonhole placement. Then, only knit 4 more rows after band before casting off, instead of 6 on WS. Now on the hunt for buttons.
11.09.13 - after much searching, and delays from being on vacation, I finished and got photos! Very pleased with the outcome. And happy to not run out of yarn, 22 grams left!
