I’m planning to complete this (or, at least the skirt portion) for Christmas with my family. We leave on 12/19, so including the six hour flight there, I’m hoping to have enough time.
I started by casting on 144 stitches, and then knit five rounds before beginning with the 1st Chart.
Stitch Counts for Skirt:
- 1st Chart, about 4032 stitches. (about 5%)
- 2nd Chart, about 15120 stitches. (about 18%, or 23% total)
- 3rd Chart, about 39760 stitches. (about 50%, or 73% total)
- 4th Chart, about 22400 stitches. (about 27%, or 100% total)
- Total, about 81312, plus transition rows.
11/26/14 - Completed the first chart.
11/29/14 - Completed the second chart.
12/09/14 - Having returned from my week off, I’m finding the process much slower. Officially completed 50% of the skirt section (almost exactly). Gave up on finishing the dress for Christmas; now I’m aiming just for the skirt.
12/16/14 - Completed the third chart - 73% done. I’m not sure if this will be done in time!
12/22/14 - Completed the fourth chart! I had a little trouble with the grafting at the end and it didn’t line up quite right, but it worked well. All I have to do now is block it, and put it under a belt as a Christmas skirt. Maybe later on I’ll bust open the second hank and see if I can’t turn it into a dress!
12/23/14 - Lain out and blocking! We’ll see if it’s skirt-worth tomorrow!
12/24/14 - I wore it to the Christmas Eve service over another green skirt of mine. I absolutely loved it! I’m starting to wonder if it might be better to just leave it as a skirt, since those usually look better on me anyway.
For now, I think I’ll leave it as a skirt. I might change my mind later, though, and I do still have another hank of yarn!
