2.13.11: they’re driving me crazy. i have frogged them both. my plan is to make plain-vanilla socks from the yarn but using the colors as accents (toe, heel, picot contrast).
2.13.11: it’s with sadness that i put these into time out. i’ve ripped the right sock back to where the heel goes and have a plan in my head to start a thumb gusset in pattern at that point. but my head is a little blurry now any time i think about these, so i don’t want to tackle it just yet. into the drawer they go. :sigh:
2.11.11: about to start round 89 (of 104) of the right sock, then i can do the toe and the heel. i put the heel stitches onto a spare circular this morning so i can just knit directly off of them. so i hope to finish the right sock tomorrow, and then i can rip out the left sock and redo it.
2.10.11: finished the leg of the right sock and put the heel stitches onto scrap yarn. i’m not making one.more.move until i have adult supervision to help me move those live stitches onto a spare circular needle. it is VERY DIFFICULT to get it past my heel. like, so difficult that i don’t know how i’ll ever want to wear it. i’ll have to sleep on this one. (the decision, not the sock.)
2.9.11: oh what a difference an ottlight makes! the color is so much truer in the new photos. so far, so good, as far as sizing goes.
2.8.11: on the larger needle and knitting the stranded portions inside out. seems to be working out to very close to 8 sts/in. fingers crossed that this one (the one with the dark solid background) comes out okay.
2.8.11: well, puh. on the larger needle, i’m getting about 7.5 sts/in (“about” because i’m measuring while i’m still in the bff section, so there’s only so much to go by).
2.7.11: cast on 66 using the 3.25mm needle and got only as far as midway through the picot cuff--four more rows and then i make the picot hem. the gauge feels really loose, but i won’t really know what it’s like until the colorwork begins.
2.7.11: determination/stubbornness :) i’m trying now on a 3.25mm needle in the large size instead of the medium, so casting on 77 sts instead of 66. and maybe working it inside out. (i am super indecisive, apparently.) i just love this yarn/pattern combo too much to let it go.
2.6.11: sadness. i started the right sock last night and LOVELOVELOVE the picot cuff #prettiestcuffever, but thought today i’d just try on the left sock, which has no heel, just a gash where the heel will go. and it won’t fit over my heel/ankle. the leg won’t pull up past there. so sad. don’t know what to do. so this is all in time out for a little while. today is super bowl sunday #garterstitch, so no big decisions today. :sigh:
2.5.11: omg so pissed. i totally jinxed myself by writing that this morning. everything was going so swimmingly! and then i tried to transfer the heel stitches back onto the needles. FAIL. i have done this many times with no problem, but i guess the complication of having two colors made me unable to correct things once i screwed them up. so sad! so i’ve put it into time out for now. i’ll work on the other sock and see whether i can get it right, maybe redo this one (which kind of makes me want to throw up, even though it took me just five days to do this one--just the principle of the thing, you know?).
2.5.11: started the left toe! i think i should be able to finish the left sock today. i love it. can’t wait to try my first afterthought heel, too. hooray!
2.4.11: after four sittings, i’m on round 78 (of 104). my row gauge is spot on (thank goodness!), so i don’t have to worry about doing a different number of repeats or anything. i am so loving how this is coming along.
rockin sock club shipment for january 2011. LOVE!!!!
