Project #300 since I became a Ravelry-member back in October 2007 => so it has to be something extra-special: a SWIRL-Jacket !
I planned to knit a SWIRL since the book came out two years ago - but never found the time to. Lucky me, had the incredible chance to meet Sandra McIver @ Rhinebeck last year and had a very personal SWIRL fitting experience with her lovely staff and Merliane. We found out that an “Off-centered-oval” size 2 fits best. Then the perfect yarn came along: Malabrigo Rastita in the georgeous colourway Marte => no more excuses not to start a SWIRL immediately.
After swatching I decided for “Wild Thyme” because I got the exact gauge.
Attention, there are some mistakes in the pattern. Unfortunately the Errata are not posted on the project page, just here at the Knit,Swirl website. Here they are for Wild Thyme:
Wild Thyme Welt 14 (15, 16) Row 1: (Do not remove start-of-row marker.) Break yarn …. Welts 28 (29, 30) – 29 (30, 31) No further decreases at markers; remove all stitch markers. Continue to increase 1 stitch at beginning and end of each row. Welt 30 (31, 32) (Eliminate first sentence.)… Row(s) 4-5 (4, 4-5): Cast on 6 stitches at beginning…
I am pretty sure there are also mistakes in Welt 53(56,59) - but there are no Errata => followed the schematics - once you understand how to read this it´s pretty easy.
Finished the Swirl in only 11 days and will make another one for sure !!
