11/04/09 I went with greens and blue, like others here have, and am very happy with the way it’s looking.
I had to move to size 5 needle as my larger needle to get the gauge right as I begin bottom of sweater. Still off in row count- we’ll see what happens
12/6/09 Am about to start gussets where pattern suggests. But nervous because so many of you chose to start at the beginning of the third repeat. Also not sure which arm size I want to do for the size small body.
12/17/09 Worked first few rounds of gusset chart and looked messy, too hole-y where I made increases. Ripped back to beginning of gusset and knit again. Much better.
Also began breaking yarn when I started new color on chart after the third repeat, because it just seems to make a neater knit at the gussets. Since I carried it up the side through most of the sweater, I don’t think it will be too hard to weave in these few ends.
12/31/09 Took a short break on this but am now on sleeves and I seem to have looser gauge than pattern, but I’ll do one and see if this is a plus, as so many have said their sleeves and armholes were too tight.
1/21/10 Worked on attaching sleeves yesterday, somehow getting it wrong. Maybe it was the little kitten rolling and clawing in the middle of everything. So, today I’ll do that round again and see if I can finish all but weaving ends.
2/5/10 Finally finished the neck and grafted the armpits together on this today. It fits!!!
(note that I am small chested and did loosen up my gauge a bit when knitting the shoulder area so I wouldn’t have the trouble so many others have with tight sleeves.)
I didn’t deviate from the pattern except that I continued decreasing every other knit row on the garter stitch neckline and did an extra 2 rows for more shoulder coverage. I don’t see that it made a big difference but I have decided to rip out the last round and bind off tighter than normal as another ravelrer suggested. I also didn’t switch needles for the sleeves as I had no smaller needle than a size 5. I meant to try knitting tighter, but, oh well.
2/19/10 Ends are woven in, it’s washed and is BLOCKING BABY!
