My mods on blog.

Aug 7- I’m giving this a difficult rating because of the mistakes. Otherwise it would be an easy knit.

I finished it late yesterday evening and was so tired I undid my already woven in ends thinking I would spit splice them into wrong side of sweater. But this morning I remembered I used Thick & Quick, which is only 20% wool and won’t felt together well. Oh well, other than 16 little ends to weave, I really like how this turned out. It’s roomy enough to go over things like a coat and I can mark one more knit I always wanted to knit off the list!

Aug 5- Almost done with sleeves. Changed sleeves to knit from stitches I picked up at shoulder.

July 30- Even with the errata I find what I think are more mistakes in the pattern. So I have modified and re-written it. I sewed shoulder seam together before making sleeve because I’m not waiting until a sleeve is knit to find that it won’t all work together. I followed the advice of Raveler Corynne and used the afterthought sleeves section in Wendy Barnard’s “Custom Knits” to knit up sleeves. Almost done and this is soooo much better than the usual Twinkle sleeve. Very smooth transition from body to sleeve. Why do designers like seams so much?

July 27- Grrrrrrrr

July 26- I’m not doing the pockets and I don’t like decreasing in a way that messes up the eyelet pattern. In fact, I don’t even like the eyelets- they look a little sloppy to me. I think I’ll follow several other knitters here and just omit them.
I understand the resounding complaint about the mistakes and mystery of these patterns. On the bright side though, Twinkle patterns travel well since they are worked on a big, oversized circular (no little doublepoints poking holes through my knitting bag or falling out of the stitches. Plus, they’ve given all of us cheap knitters with bunches of Thick & Quick something to do on the weekend.

July 25- This is part of my destashing and de-patterning project. It’s not the greatest yarn, but i just want to do something with it and be done. (If it’s really horrible I can always stop and restart with something nicer.)
