Note sure yet if I’m going to do these in gray or red. Also, I’m going to adjust the tail to be one knit piece… I’m doing a couple of test tails in green.
Making the tail so far:
I do this in magic loop so no fiddling with needle 1, 2 and 3.
CO 36 stitches in the round (I use long-tail cast on because it’s easy to undo and pick up again.) Knit for about 20-25 rows.
Short rows center around the beginning of the row, between two parts of the loop (what would be needles 1 and 3).

2) K4, WT, P4. P4, WT, K4.
3) K5, WT, P5. P5, WT, K5.
Continue like this until you do the following: K35, WT, P35. P35, WT, K35.
* Note: picking up the stitches that are wrapped was done in k2tog and p2tog in the first two squirrels, same in the body as in the tail. This lead to a weird line on the purl side. Might need to SSP instead in future ones. *
