Okay, I am trying to add some details. I used 4 braids of sw merino-all were approximately 5 ounces, so about 20 oz. total. The total yardage of all skeins was 1580 yards and I had a small ball of about 100 yards or so left. The yarn is about 10-11 wpi so DK or a light worsted weight. I haven’t blocked it yet (it is still stretched out on the bed so I can look at it!) but unblocked it is about 52” across. I will post final measurements/photos when blocked.
Finally blocked. It blocked out at 65” across. Wow. Hope to get more pics before it leaves with the soon-to-be-mommy tomorrow!
5/28/10- FINISHED!! Finally. The edging/bind-off is a never-ending slogfest. It didn’t help that I mistakenly added 2 rows to every edging repeat. Doh! It looks great though and it is unbelievably squooshy and soft. I am very proud of it & the baby shower is in 3 days! Whew. Photos unblocked on a king size bed.
5/14/10-Halfway finished with the edging & bind-off! Halfway! The end is in sight!
4/30/10-Captains log stardate….seriously this thing is kicking my ass. Moved to 40” circs (yep the LYS had them) and still haven’t started edging. But am out of yarn AGAIN!!! I owe like 5 spins to peeps and have to bust into that time to spin more pastel merino. Thank goodness I have that second (really 4th!!!) braid.
3/26/10-near the end of Chart C-still on same ball of yarn! Yay! More spinning to do, but this gives me hope that I may have enough to finish it!
3/29/10-Ran out of yarn. Spinning more-had 3oz. left to spin + singles leftover on bobbin. Now thinking I am going to be cutting this close. May have to go begging!
4/2/10- Totally out of yarn. But thanks to a particularly wonderful Raveler, have more fiber on the way!
4/10/10-on second bobbin of singles. Hope to ply today & resume knitting tomorrow
4/26/10-Almost to the edging and on last ball of yarn (again!) But I do have another 5oz braid I can spin up if need be! Toying with the idea of checking local not-very-well-stocked LYS to see if they have some 40” circs, because the 32” are getting rather cramped.
