I just completed my Diamond Headband and I want to use the stranding pattern as part of a hat pattern, so here goes.

Journal

2016-01-30: Complete cuff (cast on 96, MC, GTCO; knit (K1tbl, p1) rib, 10 rounds)

2016-01-31: Complete chart from headband pattern; begin top portion of hat. Complete round 27 & thread a lifeline. At this point I’m making it up as I go & may need to rip out the top part of the hat until I get it right.

2016-02-01: Complete hat.

Pattern

1. With MC, Cast on 96 stitches using GTCO, US 6
2. join to work in the round; Knit 1 1/2” of 1x1 twisted rib.
3. Switch to US 7. Knit 1 round in MC
4. Join CC. Knit chart from the Smitten with Colorwork pattern.
5. Continue with my add-on chart.
6. Thread yarn through remaining loops and pull tight.
7. Weave in ends.

Summary

• starting weights: rios- 72.5 grams; trinity- 104.3 grams

• If you want to make this hat, feel free to use my chart. You will need to purchase the headband pattern to get the beginning diamond chart. Then, follow the basic directions under Pattern

Next Time

• reduce every other decreases by 1 and increase the every row decreases by 1.

• Make a more slouchy version. Knit the entire thing on US 6 and increase 12 in the first knit round of MC. There will be 9 chart repeats. Continue as for beanie.
