This is a vintage sweater kit that my mom bought for herself on a vacation to Nova Scotia many years ago. It has sat undone all these years. I am attempting to knit this up for her as a Christmas gift. The Fair Isle yoke is already done as a part of the kit. The other pieces are knitted from the bottom up, then grafted to the yoke.
11/4/09 - Cast on.
11/7/09 -- Eek. A gauge issue has caused me to rip out all the knitting (9 inches!) back to the ribbing and start over on US 3s. (I had been knitting it on 4s.)
11/14/09 -- Finished back.
11/15/09 -- Cast on right front.
11/21/09 -- Finished right front.
2/13/10 -- Finished left front.
2/14/10 -- Cast on first sleeve.
12/18/10 -- Finished first sleeve. Forgot that I used US 3 needle on the rest, and used a 4 for this sleeve. Of course I see a gauge difference now. I am choosing to ignore it and soldier on with the second sleeve, making it the same way. (DOPE SLAP!)
1/1/11-1/2/11 -- Finished knitting sweater parts and began seaming up. Took apart the stitches on the yoke and picked up stitches along neckline to begin the process of grafting the yoke on.
2/5/11 -- Grafted the yoke on. It looks good! There are a few stitches that need to be tightened up -- hopeful that a wet blocking will help with that.
2/5/11 -- Started button bands.
2/6/11 -- Finished buttons bands and sewed them on. Started neckband.
2/7/11 -- FINISHED. Except for buttons. So 99% finished.
