Knit an i-cord just smaller than my head. Sewed ends together. Put i-cord on like a headband. Using locking stitch markers, marked where I wanted the ears to start in the middle. Picked up 21 stitches out from these markers on each side. Decreased by one on the outer edge only three times. Decreased by one on every row until one stitch left. Pulled stitch through. Sewed in ends.

Using the worsted weight with a small needle made for very solid knitting that stands up with no problem.
