For Laura for her baby. She said I can use whatever colors I’d like, but they’re using navy blue, turquoise, grey, and pops of orange. So we’ll see what I can come up with. :)

Finished square two last night. I’m not sure the order the colors will go in, so I’m making two of each color to start (since that’s the minimum needed per color) and will play with them and figure out what goes where. After the first block or so, I’ve gotten into the swing of it and don’t need the pattern in front of me anymore. Always love a pattern like that! :)

Nearly done with the seventh square, but I think I’m going to run out of the Cool Green before I can finish… We will see… I need to get more of the Royal Blue and Dark Country Blue anyhow (since I was using leftovers, I’m pretty sure I’m going to run out of these, and if not, well it can’t hurt to have some in the stash), so I may pick up a Cool Green too.

I stalled sewing in ends. I got my mom to help over the weekend, but I still have three to go. Then seaming the squares together, then into the blanket, then knitting the border… And I have less than a month before the baby is due. Eep!

Finally got all the ends sewn in and have started sewing the blocks together. They’re in three columns now, and those will be sewn together hopefully later today. Then to pick up around the edges and finish. :)

Well, I’m late. Cooper was born on his due date yesterday (I was selfishly hoping he’d be late so I could at least get this in the mail before he was born, but I wouldn’t wish a late baby on anyone). I have one edge left to do; I should be able to finish it tonight if that’s all I do. Then just to trim ends! I plan on mailing it off in the morning. Luckily it’s summer and he won’t need a blanket for a while. ;)
As I’m so near being done I’ll say it now rather than after completion: I love how this looks. However, I really haven’t enjoyed making it. It’s so many pieces; it could’ve been constructed better, without so much seaming. If I ever make it again, I’d do a provisional cast-on on each square and kitchener the end to the cast-on. Seaming wasn’t horrible thanks to Tin Can Knits amazing tutorial for their Fly Away Blanket, but still took a while. I’m not doing the i-cord around the edge because that just seems like overkill at this point; it might make the finish a bit cleaner, but I like it how it is.

Done! Not the best picture (it was after 10 at night and bad lighting), but it’s done. I hope Laura likes it!
