29 Nov 2015: So… this took longer to finish than I was hoping, mainly because I’ve been sidetracked with work stuff. It’s done now, though, and I’m REALLY happy with it. I made the i-cord ties quite a bit longer (12.25”) on this one than on the previous, which makes for a better fit. I am glad that I went with the 4yo size; it’s still a bit snug across the chest, which I think is a function of the construction. The wool and stitches have give, though, so she seems comfortable in it.
3 Oct 2015: Finished yoke, picked up front raglan stitches/separated sleeves from body, and started working body tonight. My goal is to have this done soon so she can wear it ASAP!
I had a little more trouble with picking up the raglan stitches this time… I was tired and got stuck trying to figure out whether the listed number of picked up stitches included the stitches picked up on the cable neckline (they do). However, that didn’t correspond to picking up one per two rows on the diagonal edge (and I can’t remember now if that was the case when I made the 2yo size). I got the count to come out, though, and it looks okay.
30 Sept 2015: Cast on last night using long tail cast on. Trying a 4yo size this time; the last one, a 2yo size, was just a touch snug, though this may be a function of the location of the i-cord ties. I will be more careful with that on this one.
This time, I’m using a gorgeous hand dyed superwash merino yarn that I picked up at the Kansas City Renaissance Festival by Th’Red Head Designs. It’s probably still a bit more variegation than I should use with this pattern, but the color is so perfect for Miss D’s fall/early winter wardrobe that I couldn’t resist.
