Notes

So I knit my dad a pair of nice socks a while back (see Dad’s socks in my projects) and he didn’t want them. He said he only wears athletic socks and that wool is “scratchy” so then when I came home for the summer I bought the little box of socks and he was looking through and when he came to this pattern he held it up and said can you make me some of these as slipper socks to keep my feet warm in the house. And so I asked him what color he wanted and he said green then he said “can you make them out of wool so they’re really warm.” I glared at him and of course he didn’t understand why, but like a dutiful daughter I agreed. Not wanting to spend too much money on this dubious adventure I went to knitpicks for the yarn and got some of the Swish mostly because it’s machine washable and DK which seemed like a good weight for slipper socks. It’s the softest yarn ever! I want to make everything from it! I’ve never yet been unhappy with a knitpicks yarn but this one I think outdoes them all.

The socks are now done and I added suede patches to the toe and heel to make them non-slippery since most of our house in tile/wood.

It seems to be true what everyone says about the swish pilling like crazy but I haven’t bothered to take the sweater stone to them yet so I don’t know if it will go away once they’ve been cleaned up.

As far as the pattern goes I basically used the number of stitches to cast on and the pattern chart but didn’t follow the construction instructions because they were for working on dpns. I wanted to try two-at-a-time magic loop so I followed a combination of the instructions from Sensational Knitted Socks and 2-at-a-time Socks which seemed to work pretty well. I also didn’t continue the pattern stitch down the heel as you’re supposed to because that seemed uncomfortable. Instead I did a basic slipped stitch heel because it’s my favorite kind of heel.
