I’m using worsted yarn instead of DK and bigger needles so I’m hoping that this comes out quite a bit bigger than the stated measurements. I want to use this as a blanket for myself but if it’s not grown-up sized I’ll probably end up sending it to Project Linus or something like that.
Andrew calculated that there are 99,012 stitches in this blanket. It still feels like I’m going fast but I’m only on row 53 of 222 and each one gets bigger…
8/13/09 I just finished row 96 of 222 or roughly 18%
of the total number of stitches…
10/30/11 Clearly I didn’t update my progress on this often enough. I am now done with the knitting and all my ends are woven in. Just need to kill it with the steam iron so that it becomes a square.
I ended up getting to the stripe with 20 rounds. As it was, I ran out of the white mid-way through the last stripe and had to get more from a fellow raveler.
I only had .8 ounces of the pink left over so even though the directions say bind off in pink I used the white. I did an i-cord bind off because lots of the project notes from others say they had a hard time making their bind off loose enough and then couldn’t block it square. As it is, it looks like it will take an aggressive blocking. Hopefully I can get to it soon. I’m so ready for this project to be done.
10/31/11 Steam blocked today. It loosened up nicely. Now it’s done done done done done!
