Notes

Angélique, now three and a half, is pretty obssessed with books in general and relishes any book which features a big, bad wolf! Little Red Riding Hood is her favourite.

After having made her the dress using vintage fabric and buttons I found this pattern, Spritely, which seemed perfect to complete this bookish outfit. I fell in love with Lundenknit’s verion - http://www.ravelry.com/projects/LundenKnit/spritely

and so set to work on this little cape during a hectic, stressful week which involved a train trip to England and a very bad migraine :-)

The pattern is quite clear to follow but is not, to my mind, as precise as many others. I think the garter stitch neck band decreases should perhaps involve two ssk followed by two knit2tog to give right and left slants. When adding the central stitch marker for the hood decreases a stitch needed to be decreased first to give an even number of stitches. Finally, I used the three-needle cast-off to complete the hood and used a vintage ribbon to attach the hood.

My guage was a little off - 5.5 stitches to the inch instead of 6 - but this suited me just fine as Angélique is quite tall for a three-year old.

I am pleased to report that Angélique is delighted with her gift.
