I love the artistry of Jennifer Hansen’s designs. This creation was a gift from a dear knitting friend; influenced by Prudence Mapstone’s scrambles. Many yarns used including, silks, beaded silks, lurex, and wool; variegated and solid; thread, lace weight, DK and worsted.
Many of the circles use a combination of silk thread and Tosh. Thread or other lace yarn was used together to slightly change the color but yet give a uniform look. Gold and silver were also used to represent Klimt’s use of gold in his paintings.
There is a Gustav Klimt exhibit at the Neue Museum in NYC from May 26 - Aug 28, 2012. I plan to wear this and have my photo taken with Adele Bloch-Bauer. Stay tuned.
6/2/12 - On hold until the Sulky Metallic thread arrives. Finished all circles. Need the Sulky for the long pieces on top and bottom. Will work on weaving ends and blocking until then.
6/9/12 - Sulky thread arrived. Finished one long strip. Second started. This is the last of the crochet before blocking and weaving.
6/29/12 - Project stable enough for a trip to Angelfire Studios, on the board of course. More crocheters are joining the HPL-a-long. Exciting. Weaving is 90% complete. The weaving is similar to hand quilting. ETA next weekend!
7/7/12 - Off the board!!!! Weaving seams. Will be complete tomorrow along with finished pictures.
7/8/12 - Finished! CAL starts tomorrow night at Angelfire Studios.
