Notes

A larger version of the entrelac hat with a brim. The original has some slouch when my hair is flat, but looks almost normal when my hair is full fro. This one will be slouchy even with dreads to my waist. I had intended to add a brim to the original hat on but at the time I was sure I would have enough yarn, and I wasn’t sure how I wanted to construct the brim. I’m happy with the brim here, but I think I’ll include instructions for a smaller brim in the pattern. It’s the size of a standard baseball cap brim here, which is what I wanted, because I do want it to block the sun, but some people might find it a bit extreme. As Tim Gunn might say, “That’s a lot of hat.”

I like the casual patchwork demin effect created by this yarn combo, but to be honest I really think that a yarn with a longer repeat works best for this cap. One day I might make a noro version. I actually had another project in mind for this yarn, so now that it’s served it’s purpose in helping me write the pattern it will probably be frogged.
