Notes

When I hunkered down in my NYC apartment for Hurricane Sandy, I cast on 49 stitches (10 PM 24 PM 15) using a provisional cast-on with waste yarn. I wanted to make the scarf a bit narrower, but wanted to maintain the asymmetrical design of the pattern. I slipped the first stitch of each row to give the scarf a neater edge- this is important to me given that the edges will be so visible on this piece.

This wool is beautiful, soft and creates a wonderfully dense and springy fabric with great stitch definition- perfect for cables. I have no doubt this will be my warmest scarf once finished. I made it through 5 1/2 pattern repeats with my first skein of wool, and after 17 cable crosses my third skin of osprey was nearly gone. To create a less visible seam than the three needle bind off the pattern calls for, I grafted the ends together. Grafting wasn’t fun, but a small price to pay for a lovely looking (and warm) infinity scarf!

The scarf looks beautiful after blocking!
