Notes

I wanted to take my I-Love-Stockinette Baby Bibs pattern one step further and eliminate any and all garter stitch. It was a challenge, don’t you see? I also though contrast piping all around the bib would be super-cute. And it is, but figuring out how to make it work was a bit aggravating.

Mods: I skipped the garter rows at the cast on edge and replaced the 3-st garter border with a slipped stitch edging (slip first st pwise, knit on front/purl on back for the whole row, knit last st). When attaching the applied i-cord ties, I started on the upper left side instead of the right so there would be no blending of the colors.

I then tried applied i-cord around the edges, but it was a terrible mess - the icord is tighter than the stockinette and it didn’t line up well. In the end, I knit an icord and sewed it on to the edges.

If people would like me to write up a new pattern with these mods, let me know, and I would be happy to do so.

A note about the colors: I hate gendered colors for babies/kids, so usually refuse to make things for baby girls in pink. But I had almost a full skein of the black yarn leftover from another project, which made the pink seem cool. Because pink + black is a winning combination.
