Notes

I really wanted to knit something with my handspun. I tried several projects - two scarves, until I realized there was not enough yarn for a scarf, and bottom-up hat that was way too large - before settling on Thorpe. It was very frustrating to cast on with this yarn at least ten times before a project worked out, but I love how it’s working up, and think it will be well worth it. This is the first project I’ve knit from my own handspun.

Week 1: 68g, 97 yards knit
Week 3: 4g, 5 yards

Mods:

  • Cast on 8 stitches to start. Four was too fiddly and I couldn’t get it to work.
  • Skipped row 5 to have a slightly more rounded top.
  • My gauge is closer to 4 or 4.5 st per inch, so I’ve increased to 80, but will be aiming to get the medium size.

This is a quick little knit. I would have taken me much shorter than two weeks, except I’m not much of a crocheter and had to look up instructions before finishing the edging.
